REHABILITATION TASK FORCE
The task force is comprised of 12 lay members and 1 pastor.
Our mission is:
To provide Christ-centered faith based opportunities to individuals and their families who are seeking freedom from addictions.
Our vision to accomplish this mission includes:
Training community volunteers for involvement in the rehabilitation process.
Providing Biblically based individual and group counseling.
Establishing mentors for accountability.
Assisting victims of addiction in developing Christian life skills to maintain sobriety.
Seeking funding for safe house/detox center in Powell County.
Exploring occupational opportunities for those maintaining sobriety.
Accomplishments to-date include:
Approximately 55 people have participated in Christ-centered Rehabilitation Programs to date.
10 people referred to rehabilitation programs outside Powell County.
An initial $65,000 Grant was obtained for use at the Powell County Detention Center. This has been renewed for $75,000 to continue this effort for another year.
Phase II "Concerned Persons Group/Facilitator Training" began April 18, 2006 - completed June 13, 2006 with 13 facilitators (group leaders) trained.
Group Sessions established for individuals and families who wish to enlist Christ in their battle against additions and its effects on their lives and the lives of others. We now have 7 groups (2 at the jail + 5 in the community) that are Biblically based. Our group sessions either are or have covered such topics as Anger Management, Conquering Chemical Dependency, Concerned Persons Group, Restoring Families, Stepping Into Freedom, Understanding Depression, and others.
Operation UNITE has included Powell County as one of three counties (others are Estill and Madison Counties) to participate in a pilot expansion of this program that was formerly only operational within the 5th Congressional District (Hal Roger's) of Kentucky. We are excited and pleased that Powell County was chosen as a result of the efforts we have made to date to combat the drug problem in our county.
Treatment Referral Line established @ (866) 908-6483.
Drug Tip Line established @ (866) 424-4382.
