PRESIDENT'S COMMENTS (Bro. Anthony T. Molihan)
Welcome to the Powell County Ministerial Association website. I am the pastor at the Stanton First Church of God in Stanton, Powell County, KY. The Ministerial Association is comprised of pastors and ministers from more than thirty churches in Powell County with the purpose of “serving the county for Christ”. Each has come together as one body in Christ - dropping our denominational barriers so that we may minister to our community as a unified voice for God’s people in Powell County. There are many in our county who are desperately in need of the saving grace of Jesus Christ. I believe that each member minister has endorsed the vision of a united body of Christ in Powell County, with a goal of seeing the Kingdom of God grow in all the churches represented.
Today the people of Powell County need to hear the gospel of Christ more than ever. Our population continues to grow and we are plagued by so many problems - especially the drug problem. As my predecessor, Brother Bill Boldt stated, “It is not that we are ignoring the other problems of the community, but the black cloud of drug addictions hangs over our community and brings about a depression that we need to break free from.” Our member ministers were instrumental in the formation of the Powell County Christians United Against Drugs effort, beginning in November 2005 when we held our first county-wide meeting. We are thankful for the strides this organization of Powell County Christians has made and continues to make. A portion of this website is dedicated to providing you information regarding these efforts, and we invite you to visit and comment on that part of the website as well.
There is no question that
the church community has been called together by God for such a time as
this. God has the answer – the only answer - to bring hope to those who
live in this beautiful county (as well as our nation as a whole). He brings
hope for our future generations.
”If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and
pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear
from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2
Chronicles 7:14) “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in
trouble.” (Psalms 46:1) As God’s people, let us work together, let
us pray for unity, consistency, and steadfastness in our endeavors to
present Christ to all who are lost and troubled.
