PRAYER TASK FORCE

This task force is comprised of 13 lay members and 2 pastors.  Recognizing the Biblical basis of prayer and power it has to change the course of history, this task force seeks ways to impact all sectors of our community through prayer. 

Mission Statement:
We the Prayer Task Force of Powell County, being supportive of the Powell County Ministerial Association, seek to unite, equip, and encourage our county in the ministry
of prayer as we are led by the Holy Spirit.
 
Vision Statement:
We will seek to accomplish our mission by organizing events and opportunities to strengthen the ministry of prayer in Powell County.          
 
Accomplishments:
-A county wide, drug related prayer chain among the churches has been established.
-A weekly prayer gathering on Saturday mornings at 9:00 a.m. located at the Stanton Baptist House of Prayer.
-Designed a prayer sign that will serve as a visual reminder for Christians to pray against drugs.
-Two prayer walks took place on March 11, 2006. One began at Clay City Elementary at 2pm and the other beginning in Stanton at the Court House at 2pm.  Prayer awareness signs were posted at the main entrances of Powell County. The signs serve as a reminder of the priority of prayer as our key to victory.

-A Prayer Conference was held on April 8, 2006 at the Powell County Middle School.  Workshops on Intercessory Prayer were held followed by a Prayer and Praise Service as we continue to pray for our friends, neighbors, family and our community and its leaders.

-A prayer walk was held on August 12, 2006.  It began at the Powell County Middle School at 10 a.m. and progressed through the areas of Pine Creek and Powell Village Apartments and adjoining areas of Stanton.

-A Community Wide Prayer and Praise Conference was held on February 17, 2007 at the Grace Fellowship Church of God of Prophecy.  A time of special prayer emphasis was called for the "Forty Days to Palm Sunday" beginning February 21 through April 1, 2007.

-"Prayer-on-Wheels" was held March 17, 2007.  It began at the Clay City First Church of God with those in attendance loading into various Church vans and traveling to various points throughout Powell County for prayer.

-"City On Its Knees" Prayer Conference was held on April 21, 2007 at the Stanton Christian Church.  Breakout sessions were held on 1) praying Biblically, 2) ministry of intercession, and 3) developing a quiet time.  A keynote service was held and childcare and refreshments were provided for those attending.

-Prayer Walk was held on May 19, 2007.  It began at the Powell County Court House and looped back after passing through several city streets in Stanton were stops were made and a time of prayer was held for the needs of our county citizens and its leaders, and in particular the section of town that was visited. 

-School Prayer Gatherings were held on July 28, 2007.  Prayer Groups gathered at each school for a time of prayer before the upcoming school year.  Pictures of this and other prayer walks are available for review on this website by clicking on this link.

-Prayer Walk was held on September 29, 2007.  It began at the Clay City Elementary School and was followed by a walk into the Clay City "Bottoms", prayer for the residents and our community, and brief greetings/visitation with some of the area residents.

-Prayer Walk was held November 3, 2007 at the Baker Apartments/Airport Road area of Stanton.

-3rd Annual "City On Its Knees" Prayer Conference, Emmanuel Baptist Church - May 3, 2008; Guest Speaker: Dr. Jim Orrick; Breakout Sessions as follows: Prayer and the sovereignty of God, Prayer and the power of the Holy Spirit, Prayer and personal devotion.
