Ministers of the Powell County Ministerial Association stand united with Christians from various Powell County churches to help and assist victims and families struggling with addictions.  The first county-wide meeting was held on November 22, 2005 at the Powell County Middle School.  It was attended by more than 900 people.  Following this meeting, 7 task forces comprised of local ministers and Christian community volunteers have been formed in support of this effort.  Additional Town Meetings to update our community on efforts underway have been held on February 18, 2006, August 12, 2006, and November 17, 2007.

Accomplishments to-date include:

  • Some 127 people have entered this Christ-centered Rehabilitation Program to date.

  • 10+ people referred to a variety of Rehab programs outside Powell County.

  • An initial $65,000 Grant was obtained for use at the Powell County Detention Center, and was renewed for another year in the amount of $75,000.

  • Facilitator Training was completed in June 2006.  There are now 7 trained facilitators (group leaders) in place conducting 6 Group Sessions (2 at the jail, and 4 in the community).  These sessions assist individuals and families in enlisting Christ in the battle against addictions and its effects.

  • Mentoring Program established at Bowen Elementary School.

  • Expansion of Operation Unite to Powell County announced in January 2007.

  • Treatment Referral Line established at (866) 908-6483, or use this link to submit questions or comments.
